Digital Map Supply Applications

Digital Map Supply can serve a central function in a variety of mapping applications. Geodata from the Supply can be integrated into mainsteam IT solutions and web services that have a geographical element.

Market Analysis
With the market analysis tool X-point, geographic data and functionality from the Digital Map Supply can become a valuable management tool. Users can gain a comprehensive picture of their market, customers, competitors, suppliers and the links between them. This tool can also be used to identify new opportunities based on postal numbers or administrative districts as well as to develop merger strategies based on the layout of the market.

Epidemiology
When Avian Bird Flu struck Denmark in 2005, the country’s Veterinary and Food Administration launched an internet mapping service that tracked the spread of the disease. This application permits users to enter their address and to view maps of Flu outbreaks in their area. It indicates whether or not their home or business is located within a risk zone for the disease based on identified cases. A similar programme was developed during the 2002 outbreak of poultry New Castle Disease.

Farming Applications
Danish farmers have benefited from digital mapping applications that assist them with managing their fields. An online database of agricultural resources in Denmark is available to all farmers who have a subscription to the Danish Agricultural Advisory Centre's Field Database, a pc and Internet Explorer version 5.5. or newer. They are able to add their own updates to the database and thereby maintain updated spatial records of their activities.

Municipal planning
The Danish commune of Høje Tåstrup has developed an online GIS portal that combines geographic data from the Digital Map Supply with a variety of information from other public administrative bodies, including the tax office, planning office and land register. This tool has proven useful in assessing existing resources, identifying opportunities for development and fulfilling administrative responsibilities.
